Ajoleblon...A Cajun Tale

This journal is a bunch of rants about nothing. Mostly lighthearted happenings in the life of a woman who is very simple and who wants for nothing but greatly appreciates whatever is given. You will find nothing profound here but hopefully something that will make you laugh and that's what I enjoy doing most. Being humorous. Fight all error, but do it with good humor, patience, kindness, and love. Harshness will damage your own soul and spoil the best cause.

I am a Rock

I've always loved this song and it has always struck a strong cord within me.  Such a sad song.

I Am a Rock

A winter's day
In a deep and dark december;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.
I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

Ah, flashback to my youth, the music that used to fuel my tears during breakups.
('Cause you can only cry so long for a dirty, rotten scoundrel, but you want to keep on crying to get it all out of your system, so you listen to "music to cry your eyes out to"......)

That is so weird!  Well, not really really weird, considering so many of the things that you and I have in common all ready, but I have always identified with this song.  I have always felt like that song kind of relates to me in so many ways.  Great tune, with awesome words!
